With regards to the assessment process
An SLCP verification needs to take place within 2 months of completing and submitting the self-/joint-assessment. We understand that this may be difficult to comply with at the moment. For example, perhaps a facility does not have the capacity to properly support a verification due to personnel shortages or other logistical issues. In light of this, we recommend the following:
- The facility should only select the “Assessment Completed” button on their Accredited Host after they have found a Verifier Body to do the verification and have set a date for the verification.
- If the assessment is already in the “Assessment Completed” status but a facility needs to make changes to the self-/joint-assessment to accurately reflect the facility’s social and labor conditions before verification, they can send a request via www.slconvergence.org/helpdesk to change the status back to Assessment Initiated.
- When scheduling an on-site verification, the facility must ensure they have the proper management staff available to support the Verifier during their visit, and have employees available for interviews.
With regards to the verification process
We have developed instructions for facilities and Verifiers on including information relevant to COVID-19 in SLCP assessments & verifications. This will ensure that the impact of the pandemic is captured in verified assessments. The instructions have been incorporated into the Verification Protocol (Annex III, page 44)
With regards to training
In 2020 we started in-person training for facilities and SLCP approved Training Bodies. As face-to-face meetings are currently impossible, these sessions were conducted virtually.
We delivered a training webinar series in English in May and in Chinese in June 2020. Recordings of these webinars are available on our Helpdesk . In August / September we aim to deliver four virtual training sessions in Spanish. Facilities and other stakeholders can sign up for the webinar series here.
We also ran Train-the-Trainer sessions for Training Bodies. We now have nearly 40 approved Training Bodies and nearly 170 individuals approved as trainers. You can find the list of Training Bodies here and a list of upcoming training sessions here. The list is continuously updated.
