The Law Overlay helps facilities and Verifiers interpret legal questions, and gives guidance on how to answer them. The Law Overlay is developed by Better Work and is available for facilities in:
- Bangladesh
- Indonesia
- Pakistan
- Vietnam
The Law Overlay is only applicable to Step 1 in the Tool.
The Law Overlay is only accessible when filling in the Tool online (on the Accredited Host platform). Information on applicable national legislation will be attached in a “Law Guidance” info box to each applicable question. For offline use, facilities and Verifiers will have access to an Excel document that contains in a flat file all applicable law guidance by country by Tool question.
For Verifiers: Pay special attention to FFC and Worldly (Higg FSLM) instructions when making use of the offline Tool for verification and uploading the information to the platform. Depending on the Accredited Host platform, the Law Overlay may be automatically or manually applied after uploading the offline Excel information, and this may affect the already existing Verifier entries for Non-Compliance and Legal Reference.
