In this support article, we will announce any upcoming changes to the SLCP Gateway platform as well and highlight new key features as they become available.
CAF Explorer (March 2026)
The CAF Explorer is a new tool designed to help facilities navigate and understand the Converged Assessment Framework (CAF) before starting an assessment. It acts as a digital library that allows you to browse through all the questions in the Data Collection Tool and get more information about each specific question.
You will find a link to the CAF Explorer in the top ribbon (the main menu bar) of your Gateway landing page after you log in. This feature is currently available only to facilities with an active SLCP Gateway account.
Benefits for facilities
The CAF Explorer helps you prepare for your assessment in advance, using a user-friendly interface available directly from your Gateway homepage. It helps you to understand the requirements and gather the necessary information before you begin the self (joint) assessment process.
Key features:
- Browse different CAF Versions: You can see the current or check past CAF versions through this feature.
- Filter by Step: You can preview how the Data Collection Tool looks like in Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3.
- Browse by Section: You can also browse questions in the Data Collection Tool, such as “Recruitment and Hiring” or “Health & Safety”
- Smart Search: You can search for questions using simple words (like "Health" or "Safety") instead of needing to know specific Data Collection Tool question keys.
- Detailed question overview: It’s also possible to check each individual question in the Data Collection tool and read additional guidance on how to answer the question
Exploring specific questions of the Data Collection Tool
When you select a question in the Explorer, you will see a clear layout containing:
- The Question Text: The exact wording used in the assessment.
- Detailed Guidance: A simple explanation of what the question asks and how to prepare your answer.
- Answer Options: A list of possible answers you can choose from (such as Yes, No, or No applicable legal requirement).
- Sub-questions: Any additional questions that appear based on your answers.
