In this article we explain how to select your Verifier Body (VB) on the Active Accredited Host platform and how to change your selection in case that is needed. With the launch of the new VB Selection Model in April 2026, facilities can only choose VBs that appear on their Selection list.
Since April 2026 it is not possible anymore for a facility to choose any Verifying Body (VB) to complete their verification. Instead, a facility can only choose one organization from a list of pre-selected VBs that appears on the Active Accredited Host platform. You can find out more about the new Verifier Selection Model here.
Here below you can find different steps on how to select and change your VB from the Accredited Host platform.
Selecting a Verifier Body
As prepare to finalize your self/joint assessment, you should also start thinking about selecting a VB for your verification. We recommend doing this step before completing your self/joint assessment. This gives you and the VB sufficient time to plan for the verification to take place.
Before proceeding with this step, we also advise you to check and ensure that your Gateway facility profile is updated with most recent information about your facility. The information in your facility profile also informs the VB Selection list, which is why it's advisable to review it at the beginning of each assessment cycle. More information on how to update your facility profile can be found here.
Step 1: Request the VB Selection list
Once you’ve initiated your assessment (ASI), click “Select Verifier Body” on your Accredited Host to generate your VB Selection List. A VB will appear on this list if:
- it meets all eligibility requirements
- is not the same VB who conducted your last verification
- VB has a score of 4 and above
- VB is in the group of randomly selected VBs with a score below 4
- is not currently suspended due to quality or ethical issues
Step 2: Review the VB Selection list
On the VB Selection list you will see the identification number of the VB, their name and their VB Quality score. You can only choose the VB that appears on your Selection list.
SLCP assigns a quality score to VBs between 0 and 5, with 5 being the highest score. Lower scores correspond to verifications with more mistakes, and higher scores demonstrate better report quality. Facilities should consider scoring information when choosing their VB.
High-performing VBs: Scores of 4 or higher
Medium-performing VBs: Scores between 3 and under 4
Low-performing VBs: Scores below 3
Example: a VB that shows a score of 3.5 typically has more mistakes in a verification than a VB that has a score of 4.
You can find out more about VB Quality scores in this support article.
Step 3: Contact VBs for quotes and availability
After reviewing the available Verifier Bodies on the VB Selection List, facilities should contact a few VBs to request a quote and their availability to conduct your verification within your required timeframe. You can find contact details of all SLCP VBs on our VB active list.
Costs for verification differ depending on:
- Country and Location
- Size of the facility/compound
- Number of workers and demography of workers
- Number of virtual verification activities / full virtual verification
- Additional facility conditions, for example:
- If facility has specialized operations with additional health and safety hazards
- If facility has large compounds, or more than one location associated with the business license
Choosing a VB is an independent decision that facilities make based on:
VB quality performance
VB availability
VB cost
Your business partner may suggest a specific VB, but the choice is yours. If a brand rejects your verified assessment due to VB preference, report it to us via our Helpdesk to address this issue.
Step 4: Select a VB on your Accredited Host platform
Once you have chosen a VB based on your specific criteria and timeframes for verification, access the Accredited Host (AH) platform to select them from your Selection list.
The VB will then assign an SLCP approved Verifier to conduct the verification in line with mandatory and preferred requirements from the Verification Protocol.
